So, it begins and I’m trying to work out a decent schedule that’ll give me the time to write, sleep, write, submit, work. I’m currently using the twilight hours in the hopes that my sleep deprived self will come up with something interesting.
So the first challenges’ brief was “19/28” it’s pretty flexible, we were allowed to use those numbers in any way. A time (19:28pm), as a date, or even something like coordinates.
I love to write whilst listening to music, so that’s the route I went down. In 1928 a fine young man named Paul Robeson released “Ol’ Man River” a pretty big song, originally written for the musical ‘Show Boat’. I listened to it and gathered a story from that.
So here it is, my first public piece of writing (excluding a story about a squid that once got published in a collection of school kid stories):
So I wrote this in the space of 3 hours? Possibly less, it’s hard to remember when you’ve drunk a few Kronenburgs.
(Side note: There was also a challenge to include the word ‘nineteen’ a total of 28x, I couldn’t and only managed it 19x)
